Arizona Entity Search: Name, Number & Formation Date

Arizona entity search: how to find your entity name, number, type, and formation date

All Arizona business entity information, including entity name, type, number, and formation date, is available for free through the Arizona Corporation Commission's online business search. That search now lives in the Arizona Business Center, the portal that replaced the long-running eCorp system in January 2026.

How to search for Arizona business entities

Go to the Arizona Business Center search page and enter your business name. The portal offers three name-matching modes: Starts With, Contains, and Exact Match. "Contains" supports partial matching (searching "Aztec" surfaces "AZTEC CONSULTANT L.L.C."), but your complete legal name as registered gets precise results. Click your entity name in the results to view full details, including your Entity ID and formation date.

The old eCorp portal at ecorp.azcc.gov shut down on January 2, 2026, a change the ACC announced in December 2025. The Arizona Business Center went live on January 12, 2026, per the ACC's launch announcement, and legacy eCorp URLs now redirect there. Update any saved bookmarks or internal checklists that still reference eCorp addresses.

Beyond business name, the portal supports lookups by Business ID, statutory agent name, and principal name, plus Domicile and Address Type filter fields. If you're unsure whether an entity registered in-state or qualified from elsewhere, see our guide to domestic vs. foreign registration in Arizona. One structural point matters before you search: the ACC database covers corporations, LLCs, and PLLCs only. Limited partnerships, LLPs, and LLLPs are filed with the Arizona Secretary of State and will not appear in an ACC search.

What you'll see in search results

  • Legal entity name (exact spelling and punctuation)

  • Entity type ("Domestic For-Profit (Business) Corp," LLC, PLLC, Nonprofit Corporation, etc.)

  • Entity ID (7 to 9 characters)

  • Formation date

  • Entity status (Active or Inactive), with a "Reason for Status" sub-field such as "In Good Standing"

  • Statutory agent name, address, and county

  • Annual report due date and last report filed (corporations)

How to find your entity number in Arizona

Your Arizona entity number, labeled "Entity ID" in the portal and "A.C.C. file number" on some ACC forms, is 7 to 9 characters.

Where to locate your Arizona entity number

1. Arizona Business Center search

  • Located: on the entity detail page and in search results

  • Labeled as: "Entity ID"

  • You can also search by it directly using the Business ID field

2. Articles of Organization or Incorporation

  • Per the ACC's Form M004i instructions, "The A.C.C. places barcodes on documents in the upper right corner, and the number is directly beneath the barcode."

3. State correspondence and subsequent filings

  • Appears on official Arizona Corporation Commission documents

  • Used as your account identifier; ACC expedite requests, for example, require it

Arizona entity number format

  • Format: 7 to 9 characters. Purely numeric IDs (7 or 8 digits) and prefixed IDs (a letter plus 8 digits) coexist in current records.

  • Examples of current Entity IDs: 1991572, 01002646, L13131737, R22206826, F12213825

  • Pattern note: live records show an L prefix on LLCs and an F prefix on foreign corporations, though the ACC has not published an official schema defining prefix meanings. Compliance systems that validate Entity IDs as purely numeric will fail to match prefixed IDs.

How to find your entity type in Arizona

The ACC handles for-profit, professional, nonprofit, and benefit corporations plus LLCs and PLLCs; partnerships are filed with the Secretary of State. The type appears exactly as registered in your search results and formation documents.

Where to find your Arizona entity type

1. Arizona Business Center search (most accessible)

  • Displayed: on the entity detail page under "Entity Type"

  • Listed as: "Domestic For-Profit (Business) Corp," Limited Liability Company, and similar designations; see the requirements for Arizona LLCs for how the LLC designation works

2. Articles of Organization or Incorporation

  • LLCs and PLLCs form with Articles of Organization (Form L010); corporations use Articles of Incorporation (Form C010 for-profit, C011 nonprofit)

3. Corporation annual reports

  • Listed in the entity information section

  • This applies to corporations only. Per the ACC Business Services FAQ, "LLCs are not required to file annual reports. Only corporations are required to file annual reports."

How to find your formation date in Arizona

Your formation date is the date your articles were delivered to the Arizona Corporation Commission, according to the ACC's C010i instructions, unless you specified a delayed effective date.

Where your Arizona formation date appears

1. Arizona Business Center search (easiest access)

  • The entity detail page shows three date fields: "Formation Date," "Approval Date," and "Original Incorporation Date"

  • Formation Date and Original Incorporation Date may match (the delivery date), while Approval Date reflects when ACC staff completed review. The formation date is the legally operative one for most compliance purposes.

2. Articles of Organization or Incorporation

  • The ACC barcodes and stamps the document on intake

3. Corporation Arizona annual report deadlines

  • Under A.R.S. § 10-1622(C), a corporation's annual report is due each year in its anniversary month on the Commission-designated date, and late reports trigger penalties of 20% per month or fraction of a month under subsection (F).

Formation date vs. effective date

Arizona lets both LLCs and corporations delay their effective date, so the formation date and effective date are not always the same. For LLCs, A.R.S. § 29-3207(A)(3) caps the delay at 90 days after the date of delivery to the ACC. For corporations, A.R.S. § 10-123(B) sets the same 90-day limit. Both statutes measure the window from the date of delivery, not the date the ACC approves the filing.

Frequently asked questions about Arizona entity search

These are the questions compliance teams ask most often about Arizona entity lookups.

Is the Arizona business entity search free?

Yes. The ACC provides free public access to its business records through the Arizona Business Center, and its FAQ confirms customers can freely access the commission's records through the online filing system.

Do Arizona LLCs file annual reports?

No. The ACC states that only corporations file annual reports; Arizona LLCs have no annual report obligation with the commission.

What does "In Good Standing" mean in Arizona search results?

It appears under "Reason for Status," a sub-field beneath the top-level Entity Status of Active or Inactive. Per the ACC Corporations Notices page, "If the entity is shown to be 'in good standing,' that means only that it is currently in compliance with filing requirements under Arizona law."

Where do I look up an Arizona LP or LLP?

Search the Arizona Secretary of State's records. The SOS, not the ACC, files limited partnerships, LLPs, and LLLPs.
