We are seeking Software Engineers of all levels to join the development team. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology – building it right – but has deep interest in better understanding finance and the financial markets.
The Business Intelligence Engineer strategically designs and implements BI software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses. This includes selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out BI solutions to end users. The Business Intelligence Engineer is also responsible for ensuring high levels of BI availability through support functions and in-depth testing.
Position Objectives
- Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users and other stakeholders.
- Direct, organize, and lead projects in the implementation and use of new BI software tools and systems.
- Assist in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with corporate systems.
Essential Duties
- Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs.
- Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
- Develop graphs and portal interfaces.
- Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for BI front-end applications.
- Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.
- Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary.
Required Skills
- Proficient with common office applications, including MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Visio.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
- Experience performing needs assessments, and making recommendations based on the discovered needs.
- Ability to document solution components in a timely manner while ensuring acceptable level of detail, data integrity, and accountability.
- Ability and willingness to share knowledge and expertise among various organizations within the company.
- Ability and willingness to take the initiative to facilitate teamwork within the various organizations of the company to serve the customer.
- Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate strong problem solving skills.
- Capability to schedule time with flexibility to handle varying workload, and still meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and work multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/MIS/Computer Science and 5 year experience in related field.
